Thank you again for reading Sometimes The Mountain Buries You. If you’re seeing this and wondering what the heck Sometimes The Mountain Buries You is, you can find out more about my queer, monster-filled novella here.

This is the first thing I wrote after half a decade of not being able to write. And it’s a whole novella? Fuckin’ wild. I’m really happy with it, I’m really aware it’s a draft, I’m really glad I can write again.

First, announcements!

  • There is a sequel novella! Working title You&&, [here's its about post](link pending). It updates on the same chapter-a-week schedule, Wednesdays at ~10pm pacific

  • After the sequel, you can expect more stories in this setting

  • No current timeline is set for the edited version of Sometimes The Mountain Buries You, but I don’t imagine getting around to it until the sequel You&& is well under way. The edited version will be available to read on my website, as well as in epub and pdf formats

The black charred surface of wood.

Now extras!

~Sometimes The Mountain Buries You, a playlist. Thirteen tracks that I’ll admit to listening to on repeat while writing the final chapters.

A plain text file tracklist titled “Sometimes The Mountain Buries You. A playlist”. The tracks are Astronaut by Gregory Alan Isakov, Awakening by Doom Scroll, Negative Space by Long Sought Rest, Animal Tracks by Mountain Man, 6 Don’t Let Love Bog You Down by Rent Strike, Heavy by Possessed by Paul James, Daydreaming by Dark Dark Dark, Fallen by Cinder Well, Just Pick One by Mama’s Broke, Weak Winter’s Sun (Reprise) by Mama’s Broke, Moon Begins by Florist, 1914 by Florist, Leaving by Cud Eastbound.

~Bingo! Sometimes The Mountain Buries You got real close to a double bingo on my personal writing tropes card.

A plain text file titled “Bingo. Fenrir Cerebellion writing 2024”, with a five by five grid of squares containing common inclusions in Fenrir’s writing. Fifteen squares are marked with a red circle, making a bingo across the middle row. The marked squares are knife, technically not incorrect autistic grammar, Nightmare Creature, forest described as “brush”, pointedly including a specific food, mutilation (positive), Free Space (simple statement in its own paragraph), veterinarian, repetition, repetition, basically the Okanagan, autoclave, axe, mutilation (negative), out of place detailed description from niche knowledge.

~Screenshot. Contains spoilers!!

This is what Sometimes The Mountain Buries You looks like on my computer. I’d write a chapter in a plain text full height window and on completion would shorten it to the next level of cascading windows so I could click through them easy enough. I’m not certain how this happened but I guess it worked for me.

A plain text file titled “All twenty chapters of Sometimes The Mountain Buries You, in narrow plain text files that are arranged in a descending cascade, showing the title bar for each chapter. Each chapter is saved with the chapter number followed by the first sentence of the chapter.

This is probably at least one person’s nightmare.

That’s all! I hope you enjoyed these little extras. I hope you find lyrics in the playlist that make you sob about Sheppard, You, and houses on fire c:
